Ten

Ten is a man living in seclusion on Mount Hiei. He takes in Shuuichirou and nurses him back to health after a spirit attack, claiming that Shuuichirou reminds him of "a person who was dear to [him]". Ten is very skilled in martial arts and possesses a knowledge on a variety of topics like fishing and botany. He prefers to wear a mask, as he is uncomfortable with revealing his face to someone he doesn't know.

At the age of four, Tengenmaru was brought to Mount Hiei to be hidden away, as he was the product of a minister's affair. Tengenmaru spent a few years under the guidance of a kind monk, Shounin, who eventually left to go on a pilgrimage. After becoming a monk himself, Tengenmaru ultimately managed to track down the body of Shounin; falling into despair, he failed to commit suicide and drowned his sorrows in alcohol. As a fallen monk, he became a tengu after he died.
