Kenneth Sleg is a colonel in the Earth Federation Space Force and one of the principal figures responsible for opposing Mafty’s insurgent activities. He first encounters Hathaway during the hijacking of a Federation shuttle, an event that develops into an unexpected friendship between the two men. This relationship later becomes central to Kenneth’s role in the conflict, as personal trust begins to coexist with military duty.
After Mafty steals the Ξ Gundam, Kenneth organizes the Circe Unit to pursue and defeat the organization. His campaign against Mafty is not merely a conventional military operation; it also reflects the political and moral tensions underlying the Federation’s struggle with its opponents. Through a series of confrontations, Kenneth eventually discovers that Hathaway is the true leader of Mafty. Despite this revelation, he chooses not to inform Bright, demonstrating that his judgment is influenced not only by institutional loyalty but also by his personal understanding of Hathaway.
Kenneth’s character is therefore defined by the conflict between professional responsibility and individual conscience. Although he serves the Earth Federation, he is not portrayed as a purely obedient officer. His decision to conceal Hathaway’s identity suggests a degree of empathy and moral independence, making him a complex figure within the broader political tragedy of "Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash". After the conflict, Kenneth eventually retires from military service.
