Kazuki Ishii

Ishii Kazuki is the main protagonist of the series. He goes to Hirasaka High School and sits in seat number 2 in the second row and right-most column of Class 1-C. With a plain face, below average height, and not being particularly great at athletic or academic activities, he considers himself the definition of a side character.

He cares deeply for his family, describing himself as a "super famicon" who loves his entire family equally when faced with the accusation of being a siscon. He's always prepared to buy gifts for his younger sister Yuzuki, who he describes as an angel.

In his first life, he fulfilled his duty as a side character faithfully, having minimal interaction with girls and hanging out with only the group known as the "Want to Conveniently Get Close to Girls Union", or "Tsugo-ren", that included Amada Teruhito and two other male students that fit the description of side characters.

After being framed for sexual harassment by a member of Amada Teruhito's harem, he was ostracized and bullied, causing his family's lives to gradually fall apart. Following the death of his parents and Yuzuki, on July 7th, 2025, he jumped off the roof of Hirasaka High School and ended his life. Subsequent to his death, he found himself sent back to the day of Hirasaka High School's entrance ceremony in 2023.

Initially timid at the beginning of his second life, he speaks what's on his mind more and more as he discards his identity as a side character. In order to protect his family, he tries his hardest to avoid the romcom revolving around Amada Teruhito. He works part-time at a convenience store in his neighborhood, sharing the same shifts as Hidaka Mikoto.

When he realizes Amada Teruhito is acting maliciously towards him on purpose, he goes forward with the resolve to fight back against the romcom rather than trying to run away.

Once in his childhood, he played with and comforted Hidaka Mikoto at a park, giving her a friendship bracelet before leaving.
